Patriotism

While walking Shecky through the Hollywood Heritage Museum lawn, I saw this display of someone’s personal belongings, this vulnerable exposure of homelessness covered by the American flag.

In the United States and more freely, in Los Angeles, the flag is not just a sign of patriotism, but oftentimes more an emblem of oppression. In this case it is a temporary protective cover for someone’s personal material goods.
